A global, chaptered journey through the Second World War. Start with aggression in East Asia and Europe, trace occupation, resistance, genocide and the major fronts, and continue to the collapse of Nazi Germany, the war in the Pacific and postwar accountability. The routes balance Europe with Asia-Pacific and distinguish dramatization from historical record.
Nine major works offer a compact introduction to invasion, Britain, Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust, the Eastern Front, liberation and civilian suffering.
The European war began with Germany’s invasion of Poland in September 1939; major fighting in China had already begun in 1937. No nine-title selection can cover every front or the scale of the Holocaust. Treat these productions as successive windows onto a much larger conflict.
