Movieline stores only the information needed to operate accounts and the features you choose to use.

Account information

If you create an account, the service stores your email address, display name, a one-way password hash, saved guides, watchlist and viewing status. Raw passwords and raw server-side session tokens are not stored.

Sessions and security

Essential HttpOnly cookies keep signed-in users and administrators authenticated. Security controls may temporarily process an IP address to limit abusive login attempts; these in-memory counters expire automatically.

Country detection

The Where to watch feature may use reverse-proxy country headers or send the requesting IP address to the configured IP-to-country provider. Only the resulting country preference is used by Movieline, and a manual preference is stored in your browser.

Analytics testing

This test build loads Google Tag Manager with storage consent granted by default and does not display a cookie preferences overlay. Change this testing configuration and publish an appropriate consent mechanism before using the build as a public production service where consent is required.

Streaming and reference links open third-party services with their own privacy policies. API keys used to gather catalog data remain on the server.

Account requests

Account data can be removed by the site operator. Before public registration is promoted, publish the operator’s legal identity, contact address and applicable retention periods alongside this notice.
