Season 1
At Berlin's Charité hospital in 1888, Ida finds romance, a path to her dream job and an inside look into cures for tuberculosis and diphtheria.
Compassion
Pathologist Virchow tries to uphold his liberal values in a time of upcoming nationalism. Doctor Koch continues his work on battling the rampant tuberculosis. Von Behring tries, in vain at first, to join his lab while Jewish Doctor Ehrlich is welcomed for his work on colorizing cells. Ms. Lenze recovers after an appendicitis but has to work off the fees for her treatment by working as a nurse.
Sunny Weather
Spinola repays Behring for saving a life. Ida is urged to pursue an ambitious dream. Koch receives two visitors: a Tokyo doctor and the new emperor.
The Light of the World
Koch reveals big news at the congress while Ehrlich struggles to find a doctor to deliver his wife's breech baby. Tischendorf and Ida's romance blooms.
Miracle Cure
Nurse Therese falls ill. Koch tests tuberculin on humans, starting with himself. Behring reaches a breakthrough in his work on a diphtheria cure.
Twilight of the Gods
Despite worrying results, demand for tuberculin overwhelms the Charité. Behring's diphtheria cure is put to the test. Ida meets Tischendorf's father.
Turning Point

Iron lung
East Berlin in the summer of 1961: Dr. Ella Wendt is transferred from Senftenberg to the Charité to ensure health care. Doctors and nursing staff leave the GDR en masse for West Berlin.
Bloodsucker
A newborn baby with jaundice is announced in the children's ward from the women's clinic. When the ambulance finally arrives, the baby's condition is poor. He needs a direct blood donation.
Limits
In a covert operation, the provisional wall is erected, dividing the city into East and West Berlin, thus making the Charité an immediate border area.
Respiratory arrest
The first person killed at the Wall is floating in Humboldt Harbor. Ella is terrified that it could be Curt. Prokop performs an autopsy on the body. The investigation is carried out in absolute secrecy...
Sepsis
Ingeborg Rapoport continues to try in vain to enter into dialogue with Prof. Kraatz when a case of neonatal sepsis shows in a drastic way that the paths between gynecology and neonatology are too far apart.
Heart flutter
Ella is supposed to represent Prof. Prokop at a research conference in West Berlin and present her latest results there. In order to be able to leave the country, Dr. Nowack has to vouch for her.
