Über einen Zeitraum von sechs Jahren gedreht und mit rund 80 Zeitzeugen aufwartend schicken sich die Regisseure Ken Burns und Lynn Novick mit "Vietnam" an, einen möglichst umfassenden Blick auf den Krieg zu werfen, der dereinst die USA und den Rest der Welt spaltete und nicht gerade zur Entspannung in politisch ohnehin brisanten Zeiten beitrug. Was führte zur dem Konflikt, warum stiegen die USA ein und was sind die Folgen, die bis heute auf beiden Seiten sichtbar sind?
