A Gentleman in Moscow
Moskau, in den 20-er Jahren: Graf Alexander Rostov (Ewan McGregor) ist ein echter Lebemann, der die schönen Dinge des Alltags genießt. Als er aus Paris in seine Heimat Russland zurückkehrt, wird er umgehend verhaftet und im Hotel Metropol unter Hausarrest gestellt. Der Grund: Nach den Ereignissen der Oktoberrevolution gibt es keinen Platz mehr für Aristokraten wie ihn in der kommunistisch geprägten Gesellschaft. Er muss all seine Privilegien ablegen, doch zumindest bleibt ihm eine Hinrichtung erspart. Von nun an lebt Rostov in der Dachkammer des opulenten Hotels und muss damit leben, das Haus nie wieder verlassen zu dürfen. Während die Jahre vergehen und sich einige der turbulentesten Jahrzehnte der russischen Geschichte vor den Türen des Hotels abspielen, beginnt Rostov immer mehr in sich hineinzuhorchen. Er glaubt daran, dass gute Taten der Schlüssel zur Erfüllung sein könnten, und beginnt Werte wie Freundschaft, Familie und Liebe für sich zu entdecken.
